Texas ID Cards

New Get The Gazette Design A Driver's Iowa If you do not drive but want or need a form of Texas identification, you can obtain an ID card by visiting your local driver license office, pay a fee of either $16 (cash, check, money order or credit card), and provide the following documents:

(Note: you will need to provide one primary document, two secondary documents or one secondary document and two documents supporting identity documents.)

Documents that Prove Primary Identity

  • Texas driver license or ID card (no more than two years expired) along with driving record proving U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S passport

  • Immigration documents that show proof of identity (i.e. permanent resident card, employment authorization card, U.S. travel document or valid U.S. military ID)

(Note: If you have changed your name, please provide proof of this. A marriage license, divorce decre, or court-ordered name change will suffice.)

You can do so in-person at your local driver license office, online, by phone or by mail. If you are 60 years of age or older, your ID card will not expire. There is no age limit in the state of Texas to acquire an ID card.
